Bipasha was born 7 January 1979 in New Delhi, India. Basu was scouted by model Mehr Jessia Rampal at one of Kolkata hotels and started her professional career. Her first role was in 2001 movie Ajnabee. She also appeared in Raaz, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Singularity and many other films.

She dated co-star Dino Morea from 1996 to 2002, and then dated co-star John Abraham until 2011. She married Karan Singh Grover in 2016.

She co-stars with Anil Kapoor in the 2008 thriller Race.
